If you look at the fine print in the project it leaves a huge chunk of space for the coyote to still thrive and hunt. How many of you shop at the trader joes that was built on the same area??? Was there something wrong with the Master Plan? Did Dr. Evil write it? Now it's SEADIP. Sounds like a refreshing dip in the ocean. Development and Improvement Plan.Yawn. Master Plan sounds, well masterful.
Master Plan, n. A plan providing complete instruction. Does this sound like it needs help. Why waste the time. There is no time to waste.
While I appreciate Gerrie's energy to help. Inviting people to learn about the wetlands will just attract the choir. If you want to get the rest of the congregation you may have to provide chips, dip and cocktails. And call it Master Plan.
I do not expect Tom Dean to have "A Christmas Carol" experience anytime soon, but I can hope.

As a member of Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust, I was truly moved by the article, With Hope as Strong as Certainty. Most people hurriedly drive by those pristine acres without a glance either right or left. For those who know about the immeasurable value of wetlands and battle for their conservation and restoration, we appreciate the promise and possibilities singing within this beautifully written piece.

I've seen the coyote, I've seen the great blue herons nesting in this area, I've see the flocks of shore birds that seem to thrive here, I've seen them from the road in my car, walking my dog and from the water in my kayak. Our "Central Park" is the ocean and these wetlands, we need the outdoors to feed our souls and we must do everything we can to preserve these treasures. Great article!

Please for the love of Mother Nature, do not let these wetlands go. Increase them if at all possible.

There are SO many empty storefronts and underdeveloped areas all over Long Beach. Can't we leave something to all the animals that were here before we came along and messed it up?

I don't think there has been enough public input on the SEADIP so I am hosting a meeting at Emerson Elementary on April 7th so that the public can come and not only hear about the SEADIP but learn about the importance of wetlands in that area.

Hey, we've got a ton of available industrial space of the other side of town over here by the 710 downtown...why don't the eager beaver developers look at that (or swap)? It might actually draw folks over to this side of town and mitigate the traffic nightmare that would occur if these wetland properties were developed.
