  • Jenny O is wrong. The Lowenthal name carries a lot of water...for good, or for bad. Sorry Jenny O, but a great many of LB area voters are dumbed down, for a variety of reasons. That's not to cast aspersions, but it is what it is. Still, the glaring problem is voter apathy, which is always evident when the final numbers come out...less than 20% voter turnout is pathetic. It's safe to assume that no matter who wins the 54th, it will mean more of the same.
  • Ron is so right. I can't recall, any councilmember who won an election, in their district, with over 2,000 votes. In a city of approximately 500,000, that is atrocious.
  • Ron it is not just LB voters, and I don't know that "dumbed down" is the appropriate description so much as lazy. Very, very few voters do any research on candidates at any level.
  • Sorry, I must be missing something. It's been a very long work day and my mind is trying to shut down. Who is the Ron that #2 & #3 reference? Is drnoe's name Ron?
  • Yeah, I was wondering about that, myself.
  • Yes, drnoe's name is Ron. But what's in a name? Wonder what Jenny O now thinks about the Lowenthal name?
  • What's in all their names? If Long Beach has such great leadership, why isn't it one of the world's greatest cities?
  • I don't have any cogent comments, just enjoying the banter. And, the fact that I will finally open my mailbox without Bonnie's smiling face peering out at me.
  • Juan -- wrong. I won my election with 5,662 votes. The 5th District *unlike other districts* vote. Turnout was 40.4%
