What's your beef with Coolio? That he was/is actually an entertainer, rather than some scowling recalcitrant who invented a hard-ass personna and then pretended to live up to it? The guy brought both comedy and consciousness to his best work--and both are in increasingly short supply today. His personal life was very "real." His art was to use his reality as a springboard to rise above, not wallow in it to supply cheap, vicarious thrills and whore it out to get record sales.
