Amazing we are putting together a deal. Which will bring the largest Studio in the States to Long Beach. Cost is multi Hundreds of million dollars. Will bring thousands of jobs to Long Beach. The worst economic time possible and we have stuck with the project. Because we believe in what we doing and we believe it will be great for the City and the State. It will lift the Education areas of the film community. But most of all it will definitely happen and the press constantly tries to make us sound foolish. When a deal of this magnitude is being closed, lawyers own the time clock not us. So please give us a break and let us finish what we started. Thank you !!!

Noted.But keep in mind how long it took Cameron to even get his projected green lighted.

Incidentally,while as we all know there is an over abundance of
poop around(including those that think they are hot poop!!! who
so foul our City)...where is a good place to get good regular Apple
Butter?

Albertsons and Vons will,once in a while, stock a few of the smaller
jars.Who carries three or four pound jars??

I never said that I didn't want movie production in LB. I was questioning somebody's credibility. Maybe we just need a different player.

The reference to Titanic brings to mind all the groundless rumors and
naysaying during and after the final few months of its filming prior to
its release.Alas,the box office figures and the ancillaries reached a level that
will make it one of the most profitable business ventures in the motion picture
ever.

In my view Long Beach is an ideal setting,far better than Downey,not only
because of the physical plant and its offerings,but because of the many diverse,off site locations that Long Beach has to offer.The latter offers the
potential of production companies basing their offices here,in Long Beach,
which saves them money because then they do not have to pay mileage.

I've worked in the film industry for more than 25 years and if one were to pick the WORST time in the entire HISTORY of this industry in Southern California to build a vast complex of new stages, this would be the time. Production in the L.A. area is off at least 25% over "normal" and none of us see a full recovery any time soon, as vast amounts of both feature film and television production have moved out of state in order to take advantage of huge tax credits.

I am sure production will heat up some next year, but finding stage space will not be much of a problem any time soon.

Time will tell, of course, but I sure wouldn't put any of my money into this deal.

Apparently you don't know poop from hot apple butter. The C-17 plant is at Wardlow and Cherry; the old 717 building, that is in play here, is at Lakewood and Conant(think Carson St.). And at that it is on the east side of Lakewood. The entire Long Beach Airport (and more) is between those 2 sites.

I don't know the all the facts here but have an uneasy feeling about the studio "deal." I get the feeling (for which I don't have very specific background) that O'Halloran is yet another in the long line of favored Long Beach insiders. Are the folks that in effect run City hall encouraging this deal and discouraging the electric car deal?
