I applaud your muck-racking or sand-raking spirit in tackling this. I hope it moves some action and that you will follow up as the crusading newsies you apparently are!
I believe the LA Times took on Malibu star homes with this same bold seizure of public sands problem.
    Will the state do anything?

Not all rich people make me sick but the kind of people mentioned in this story definitely make me sick. What home owner doesn't understand where his/her property starts and stops? Then when asked about the study you mentioned act like they had no clue they were doing anything wrong. Give me a break. Frank Colonna should be ashamed. Of all people that should know the law. Oh ya...he does know the law, but chooses to have a selective memory when it's favorable to him.

Great story. Wonder what other surveys, studies and documents are buried at City Hall.

    Keep digging.

If 100,000 is needed to fund the Army Corps. of engineers study of the breakwater .Use the money from the sand placement fund, and then get started on the new Long Beach with waves! Also sell the land being used by the naive home owners to them at a fair current price per square foot, then see how fast they take down their encroachments.

So where do I sign up to use one of these decks—just the part extending over public land, mind you—for my friend's daughter's Quinceanera? Does Parks & Rec maintain a reservation list, or should I just get there early with my beach chair and tunes? Will a TV news crew help hold my reservation?
