The District Weekly: OFF-CAMERA

It is still a viable idea well worth pursuing. Most perhaps noticed last week that
Disney, recognizing the present and future demand for such facilities announced
an ambitious expansion plan circa 60 miles north of Long Beach. They will be
    expanding their Melody Ranch.

The Long Beach Studios will be strategically positioned to serve not only that
which lies to our south--but well up into the Los Angles area.More to the point
the physical plant--ie the hangar with its tonnage psi is awesome. As are the
    overhead cranes.

would a real legitimate business guy, in the midst of a purported multi million dollar deal have a disconnected number?
  • lbresident · 2 months ago
my speculation is he has multiple numbers and the one is question was annoying him due to many inquiries regarding the status of the deal.
  • Laurence B. Goodhue · 2 months ago
You might ask Peter Uberroth that question. When he went to the then store front office on Olympic Boulveard the phones were not turned on so under
funded was the operation which went on to produce the Summer Games of
XXIII Olympiad; most successful in Olympic History, engendering a fountain
head of endowment:after close of the Games was circa $25 million;today
after granting circa about the same amount to various sports organizations around the Southland(not to mention monies granted to the various national
sports federations)has circa $30 million left being distributed by the AAF of
Los Angeles-some of which still flows to Long Beach, which by the way received the first $100,000 to jump start a self sustaining sports program-
just one of many here so funded.

Howard X's comment reminds me of the story by the venurable sports writer
Bill Mc Quire of the Los Angeles Times who John Argue, the moving force behind bringing to Los Angles invited to breakfast at the California Club.

Said invitation was extended after Bill,as well as other members of the press
had been forecasting nothing but doom, gloom gridlock as well has financial
ruination for Los Angeles-week after week in the media.

The waiter who had not seen John Argue for a number of weeks, but had been
reading the incessant predictions of gloom;brought them coffee and said, to
John..."Mr. Argue,I have been reading those articles in the Times by that
Jack Ass Bill Mc Quire,do not pay any attention to what he is saying---he is
always shooting his mouth off...does not know what he is talking about."

Without missing a beat(per Mc Quire) John-extends his arm out to Bill, replying to the faithful waiter--says,"Let me introduce you to that Jack Ass!!!!

your ramblings frequently make little to no sense. probably that diseased mind of yours...
  • Laurence B. Goodhue · 2 months ago
..only to small minds such as howardx-whose pathetic life is well
chronicled by this postings revealing an existence void of substance.
  • LB City Girl · 2 months ago
Actually HowardX is 100% on target...this is unintelligent...what have YOU been smoking?!
  • Laurence B. Goodhue · 2 months ago
Thank you for making my case.
  • howardx · 2 months ago
    geritol.
  • howardx · 2 months ago
nonsensical replies only reinforce my case fruitloop.
  • Laurence B. Goodhue · 2 months ago
A review of the postings of howardx on this and other matters
would indicate, the only case he has,is his bottomless case of
Fruit Loops he munches on,sitting there in his underwear so
disconnected to events and dynamics which shape our community-that he has nothing else to do.

As mentioned before, most people after a period of time are
able to identify who it is that is doing the postings. One is
hard pressed to find three solid citizens that would view
Howard X but as a zero void of any accomplishment-and as
an attestment to the one downside of this medium.

all I know is that this is why I read TDW.

Maybe we could offer the studios the queen mary and the spruce goose hangar for their filming and let a real business have the douglas plant.

If you check with Jack Kaiser of Los Angeles Economic Development Corp you
find the motion picture and television industry is one of the largest economic
engines in the area.Have not the time to check, but,if memory serves me
correctly--is something like the fifth or sixth largest.
