CITY TREE POLICY GETS SENT TO COMMITTEE
Referring to Ellis as a "cancer" is a grave insult to cancer. The man should grow a conscience and resign with what little dignity he has left. But since he's proven incapable of even that small amount of humility, he must now be removed and the sooner the better.
Don't go away mad, Ellis, please.....PLEASE....just go away!
"Dave I am glad the chamber is active in the local political scene, for God sake some balance and opposition to the run for union money by our electeds is needed. Too many decisions are made looking to how much money it will garner from LA & Sacto unions for their run at the next level."
Well well now we have money from a LB business union, for the purpose of hypocritical dog and pony shows, and as an investment to pimp more dollars from its' members, regardless if this union forgets their claimed "issue".
randy also said:
"Healthy business environment is critical to successful city."
Gosh, so is healthy residents, especially long beach schoolchildren. Too bad the chamber union fights port related anti-pollution legislation, which would cost pennies on a pair of shoes.
Do you think josh finally figured out he was being used? Does he really want to be associated with this union? The kid is no match for a slick huckster like gordon!
Unfortunately a lot of the folks in Sacto are as anti-business as you are which is why we are losing good jobs to other states; if the trend continues you'll be blissful in about 15 years when the whole state is sucking on the government tit for substenance like you are today.
Until you fess up to how you make rent each month and pay the grocery bills your anti-Gordon rants become more and more shallow.
Now I have to go back to work so I can pay my taxes and support you.
And, LBRez, I work in private enterprise and totally support regulated commerce, environment, and trade. Why? Because these are often contrary to the bottom line and, given the history of unregulated commerce, it's NOT a good idea. Generally, if the Chamber of Commerce is for it, your quality of life will deteriorate. But your opportunity to work in a minimum-wage job with no health care is increased.
I'm sure everyone expects the usual disgusting anti-pollution anti-worker mantra from the likes of a chamber of commerce or john birch society. randy's BS never bothered me until he got going on his phony "save the schoolchildren" program. Totally offensive and repulsive. He is one slick dude, and really knows how to maximize donations to his political fund.
But do his union members really want to be recognized as fighting reasonable legislation that saves schoolchildrens health and lives? Is his ego so bloated that he believes people don't see through his BS? I mean really, pimping for a Lowenthal? Josh writing a couple of pieces for randys union-supported webnews powderpuff doesn't mean he's sold out.
I would be getting upset too if I were him and someone kept calling me on my phoniness.
The liberals in government, and society, do not want individuals to be accountable or responsible, they want the government to provide and be responsible so everything is "equal", to do this they mandate employers be responsible for their employees payments where they can; especially for collecting the taxes that keeps the government in business. Sales tax, income tax, medicare tax, social security tax, all these are the responsibility of business owners.
So John has "substantial income" as a professor in college said to us one day, "I'd be a socialist too if I were rich enough to afford it." John appears to be a member of the Kennedy-Pelosi-Boxer-Kerry club, congrats. Our people can't take care of themselves, let's find something else we can mandate that takes away more of their accountability...
If you like I can write your canned and predicable responses.
Thanks, but no thanks.
Once upon a time in our history many years ago wages were frozen (for the common good) and health insurance was a way to provide an increase to employees apart from wages. This benefit was also helped along by labor (not business) unions. Many small businesses actually liked "union-employer" healthcare benefit trust funds as they provided plans at a group discount.
How ironic that randy whines about taxes that business pay, when business is always demanding (and recently usually getting) lots of government welfare and tax relief, in the form of investment tax credits, employee healthcare payment credits, property tax waivers, and the list goes on and on and on. At least he's only a hypocrite when he either speaks or types.
In belmont shore the businesses even want to spend the parking (tax) revenue as they see fit, and damn the residents.
The reality is that businesses need to be watched over ike a hawk, and regulated.
Car insurance is the same as health insurance? Liberals don't want people to be accountable? What kind of ridiculous talking points are those? How about that all conservatives are closeted gay rascists? And all libertarians are social misfits that love guns and mail order brides?
Please. Your arguments have the rhetorical value of the plastic toy in a happy meal. It feels good until you choke on it. Stop broad brushing folks and you might learn a thing or two.
Can anyone tell me the benefit to the water dep't by giving the chamber union money?

Oh and by the way let's let government pay for infrastructure that's been mostly deteriorated/overwhelmed by private commerce. He's a real welfare queen.
He has been sitting on the sidelines because there is some baggage associated with his getting into the leadership game. This man is a leader. The nightclub is just a diversion for a high energy, driven person. Long Beach would be missing out on the best political prospect the city has every produced by passing judgment on Josh because of his family.
He is a most ethical, and honest person. I don't even live in Long Beach, but would consider it if Josh got in to politics because I know he's a good guy.
