    The Long Beach Cyclists:
Our mission is to promote cycling as a fun, valued and sustainable transportation choice in Long Beach through community, advocacy and education.

We're planning events to raise awareness of cycling issues and to get people on their bikes! Currently we're looking for volunteers to help with "Bike-In Movie Night" at the Art Theater, where we'll offer secure valet bike parking one evening a month. Other projects will include Bike to Work Day, community safety and bike commuting classes.

Dave, great public service from you and TDW to get Cyndi's List together and going. In the end it is less about who we pull the lever for on November 4th that will determine what kind of community we have and more about what we do as individuals that determines what kind of community we have. Volunteer opportunities abound in our great community and tens of thousands quietly do so throughout the year. Thanks for presenting opportunities for those not yet engaged who wish to be. Thanks to Cyndi as well for putting her request out into the public domain and setting up the impetus for the Cyndi List .

The Sexual Assault Crisis Agency (SACA) of Long Beach serves 21 cities and is the only rape crisis center serving the South Bay, Harbor and Greater Long Beach areas. SACA offers a 24 hour crisis hotline, Sexual Assault Response Team and counseling and support for survivors of sexual assault and is run predominantly by its volunteers. They hold two-week training courses about three times a year which will certify women to work their 24-hour sexual assault hotline. You commit to one year of four six-hour shifts a month and can patch the calls to any number you want, so its perfect for students. Visit our myspace for more information on volunteering or donating.

Is Cindy hot? I need a date this Saturday night. Applicant must have the attitude of "a giver."
