Thanks for writing, C.A. Wood, and I appreciate your attention to detail. I definitely should have been more careful with the construction of that sentence. I did not mean to write that John Morris was the first person ever to suggest redirecting the river -- I meant that he was the guy who ignited the current flurry of conversation on the subject. But I certainly gave the wrong impression, and I promise to try even harder to make sure I write exactly what I mean. Thanks again!

How about hold the City's above Long Beach accountable for their own litter. Have them clean their channels more often and cite the people that actually litter.

While,to the best of my 30 years perspective on the subject, Bob Foster is the first Mayor to take up the banner of re directing the Los Angeles River et al
and is to be commended for such-it is not true that John Morris was the first person to publicly mention moving the Los Angeles River as your article claims-
though he to is to be commended-for such and his equally good body of work in
civic undertakings.

It really matters not who was the first to so advocate Yet,the currency of any
publication,especially the fledgling, is reduced when reporters,writers,publishers
do not to their sums.

The public record of the Long Beach City Council;Port of Long Beach and
numerous issues of the Press Telegram are replete with the suggestion-
advanced over the past 30 years and were so advanced after reviewing the
concept of the COE-long before Bob Foster,Lowenthals,came to town---even
before the good Mr. Morris came to downtown Long Beach.The concept in
chief was codified to Bob Foster,in writing shortly after he became Mayor with
the suggestion that it be made one of his first priorities.
